You've heard a lot about blogs -- how everyone's blogging, and you're thinking maybe you should blog, too.

WHAT is a Blog?
It is a website. That's all. A really simple to use and versatile website, that uses a CMS -- Content Management System -- to organize and archive your posts.
Posts are articles, images, stories, info, whatever you want to add to your website/blog. The blog program does all the hard work of coding and formatting your posts and images so that you don't have to know anything about writing in HTML.
WHY blog?
It is an easy way of getting your message out -- to your customers, or your family and friends, your coworkers, your teammates -- it just depends on the focus of your blog.
You can have multiple blogs. You can set up your blog to only allow certain people to see it, or your can promote it to the whole wide web-world.
HOW much does it cost to have a blog?
Google's Blogger blogs are FREE -- yes, free!
You can pay to have other types of blogs, but why? Google gives you the whole package - blog hosting, pix hosting, email, and more, all for free.
And no, they aren't paying me to promote them. I use Blogger, and think it's a wonderful tool for anyone who wants to save money, and keep their overhead down. And these days, that's a lot of people.

Which gave you a Google Apps account where you can do more webmaster-y things to promote your blog
You also now have access to a Google Checkout account, so you can make and take payments when buying and/or selling online.
You 'burned' your RSS-feed with Feedburner, so that your readers can subscribe by email or in their RSS reader (you can find out how many email subscribers you have there, too).
You added those Email and Feed subscription forms to your blog
You added a HIT COUNTER from Statcounter that tracks info about your readers
You created your TWITTER account
You added your blog's RSS feed to Twitter
You added your Twitter feed to your blog, and a Follow Me on Twitter link, too.
You learned about word CAPTCHAs, as well as how to "capture" images from the internet, as well as how to highlight and copy-paste.
You've inserted images, and added gadget and widgets and feeds - oh my!
Your blog is ready and waiting for you to add posts.
Your subscriptions and 'feeds' are on auto-pilot.
You can promote yourself by Tweeting, and by commenting on other blogs and forums.
I promise you will have a working blog, that is ready for you to use and share and enjoy.

PS - some things to think about before you start your blog:
Read the book once before you start.
Choose your blog's name.
Decide what your blog is going to be about.
Think about how often you will blog, or add content.
Decide whether or not you want your blog to be in your own domain name.
Google will host your blog for FREE -- either with the URL including their ".blogspot.com" --or-- using your own domain name, which you can register through Google for just $10 a year. Really – that's all it costs! Just $10.00 for your annual domain registration.
You may want to create a logo image, and have a small thumbnail pic of yourself, too.
And most of all, don't worry about making it perfect right out of the gate – you will likely make many changes, edits, and corrections before you are ready to officially announce your blog to your friends, families, or potential customers.
